Northgate Station Comprehensive Dentistry is a unique dental practice in that we insist on a “patient-centered, patient-directed” philosophy. The idea may not sound revolutionary, but it’s actually quite distinct from the direction modern dentistry is moving in today.
In recent years, dentistry has shifted toward a corporate ownership model in which the patient is often forgotten or overlooked with regard to treatment options and what is covered. Far too often, it is the patient’s insurer (if they even have one) that makes the decision regarding care, basing decisions on the budget of the patient, not his or her needs. In this model, treatment options are presented to the patient with a focus on cost and what will be covered, not what will be best for the patient’s health.
At Northgate Station Dentistry, we believe that any practice philosophy that bypasses the needs and wishes of the patient is wrong. We believe the patient should always come first.
With our patient-centered, patient-directed philosophy, our dentists utilize 3-D imaging technology and a thorough examination of the issue to give you, the patient, a clear understanding of your dental needs and the treatment options you have. We will discuss the following issues with you:

- The cost, process, and outcome of treating your immediate concerns.
- The cost, process, and outcome of long-term optimal care.
Once we have informed you of your treatment options, only then do we consider your existing benefits to see what is covered. We also provide individual counseling to help you reduce the cost of anything that is not covered. The most important thing is that the final decision regarding your treatment and costs is up to YOU, the patient, NOT your insurance provider. This is the only way to offer our patients the best care possible.
