If you have any cavities that require filling, Northgate Station Dentistry offers a wide variety of options that cater to the individual needs of our patients. All of our compassionate dentists believe in empowering their patients to make the best treatment decisions regarding their oral health. When you come to Northgate Station Dentistry, Dr. Muecke will assess your situation and explain all of your treatment options, so that you can decide on the solution that works best for you.
Filling a cavity is considered “restorative dentistry,” because we are restoring a damaged, decaying tooth and protecting it against further damage. We have multiple types of fillings available:
• Composite Resin – Also known as “white filling,” this compound mixture of plastic and ceramic is often used to fill front teeth because it closely resembles real teeth. In the past, the composite resin wasn’t considered strong enough to resist the grinding of back teeth, but recent advances have made the composite resin compound stronger, making it a great alternative to amalgam fillings.
• Porcelain – This is also used for crowns. Porcelain is strong and durable, and it can be made to look like a natural tooth.
At Northgate Station Comprehensive Dentistry, we know that every set of teeth is different, which is why we offer a variety of options for fillings and other restorative dental treatments. Together with Dr. Muecke you can look at all your options and decide on the treatment that works best for you!
