We recommend both children and adults have a teeth cleaning every six months. If it’s been a while since your last dentist visit, we provide full periodontal therapy to improve your oral health. Our dental hygienists perform teeth cleaning in a room that’s been specifically designed to provide you with the utmost comfort. For instance, at our office, you can watch a movie while we clean your teeth!
During a cleaning, the hygienist will remove plaque and tartar buildup on the teeth above the gum line using a combination of hand tools and an ultrasonic machine. The cleaning may also include a fluoride treatment to strengthen tooth enamel, as well as an oral exam and/or X-ray to determine if there is any tooth decay present. Finally, the hygienist will polish your teeth, which will help prevent plaque from accumulating on the enamel. If there are any problems noticed by the hygienist, you will be given instructions on proper brushing and flossing to help keep plaque and tartar buildup under control between cleanings.
